FOUR LAMINATE STREAMS, 4120 PRESS

Four streams of self-wound laminate strips were applied, two on top and two on the bottom of the parent web. Equal and constant tension was important as the final product was sheeted. Three-inch diameter airshafts supplied the laminates. Tension was controlled using four Nexen TCD controllers with ultrasonic diameter sensing on each laminate roll. Unwind tensions were very light and created through pneumatic brakes with Teflon pads.
